An infusion made from the leaves of the South African rooibos shrub. Redbush is prized for its smooth earthy sweetness and subtle nutty notes. Unlike black or green tea, it is low in tannins so it never tastes bitter even if brewed for longer. Rooibos is rich in polyphenols such as aspalathin which have been studied for their antioxidant effects. Traditionally enjoyed in South Africa both hot and chilled, it can be served on its own or with a splash of milk.
