Harissa is a North African inspired paste with roots in Middle Eastern cuisine. The name comes from the Arabic word meaning “to pound” and refers to its preparation method of crushing spices and chillies into a thick paste. Traditionally used in tagines and grilled dishes, it is also useful in marinades and sauces.
