Couscous is often mistaken for a grain, but it is actually a type of pasta, made from crushed durum wheat semolina mixed with water and rolled into tiny granules. Unlike whole grains like quinoa or rice, couscous undergoes a partial steaming and drying process before packaging. Its pasta-like nature means it has a lighter, fluffier texture compared to grains and readily absorbs flavours, we particularly enjoy it with a beef stew.
