Lerida figs are a specific variety of dried fig known for their plump, flattened shape and dense, chewy texture, which sets them apart from other dried figs like Smyrna figs. Unlike some varieties that are naturally more wrinkled and sticky, thse organic lerida figs are carefully pressed into a uniform shape during the drying process, giving them a firmer bite and a more compact consistency.
 
This unique drying and shaping method concentrates their deep, caramel like sweetness, while also enhancing their subtle, earthy undertones. Compared to juicier or more syrupy figs, Lerida figs have a slightly milder and more balanced flavour, making them incredibly versatile. Their dense texture means they hold up well in baking whilst offering a natural sweetness without overpowering other ingredients.
