pasture raised pork shoulder

Our pork shoulder comes from slow-grown, pasture-raised pigs, giving each cut a higher level of intramuscular fat that translates into unbeatable tenderness and deep, robust flavour. Unlike leg, which is leaner, shoulder carries more marbling, making it the ideal choice for both long braises and pulled pork—particularly when you’re cooking pork shoulder in a slow cooker.

For fall-apart results, season generously with salt, pepper, and your favourite herbs or spices, then brown the pork shoulder in a hot pan to develop a golden crust. Transfer to a casserole dish or slow cooker along with onions, garlic, stock, and any extra aromatics you love. Cook on low for 6–8 hours, or high for around 4–5 hours, letting the intramuscular fat slowly render and infuse the meat with richness and moisture. Shred or slice before serving, and enjoy with homemade sauces or classic sides like apple sauce, coleslaw, or roast vegetables.

Because these pigs roam freely and have a diet heavily from the natural pasture, their meat develops a full-bodied sweetness and depth of flavour that intensively farmed pork can’t match. The extra marbling in a pasture-raised, slow cooked pork shoulder delivers incredible taste and tenderness, making it the ultimate choice for pulled pork, roasts, or any recipe calling for slow, gentle heat. If you’re cooking pork shoulder in a slow cooker, this cut offers a melt-in-the-mouth experience that captures the very essence of quality, ethically raised pork.
